Yamanien Sencha Green Tea is known for its incredibly rich umami character, natural sweetness, and deep complexity in both taste and aroma.
What we have discovered, to no surprise, is that our technique of Shizen Shitate, or Natural Finishing, on all of our plants allows for the overall health and vitality of the buds and leaves, and gives our finished tea its remarkably intense, award-winning flavor.
Yamanien Shizen Shitate Green Tea Fields
Natural Finishingallows the Camellia sinensis tea plants to mature and grow in their natural form, sending their branches and leaves high into their environment to seek optimal positioning of leaves to acquire life-giving sunlight. The more photosynthetic centers available to the plant, the more readily they can then convert organic compounds and carbon dioxide into sugars for energy. Our role is then harness this natural energy into the production of the newest tea buds and supple new leaves for our finest Kumonoseki Premium Sencha.
In short, an abundance of rich, brilliant-green tea leaves available to the plant results in a richer, more flavorful, and satisfying green tea experience!
Here in Shizuoka, we are proud of our Green Tea heritage, producing over 45% of Japan's national production. You may be familiar with the well-known image of beautifully rounded tea plants nestled quietly against the awesome backdrop of a snow-capped Fuji-san. Truly a spectacular sight to behold and a quintessential part of this glorious region.
Shizen Shitate, Shade-grown Green Tea
Visibly, Shizen Shitate does not have this uniform, rounded appearance. Our plants grow in a free-form, natural manner which allows the tea plant to do what it does best... producing the world's finest Sencha Green Tea.
